Looking for a fun summertime sensory bin?🌈✨ This Dyed Pasta activity is perfect for little ones, whether you're spending a hot afternoon inside or setting up some shaded play outdoors. It’s simple to put together, colorful, and guaranteed to keep little hands busy.

Sensory play is a great way for kids to explore textures, colors, and creativity all at once. With dyed pasta, they can scoop, pour, and sort while building fine motor skills and using their imagination. It’s an easy, budget-friendly activity you’ll find yourself coming back to all summer long. Follow along for step-by-step instructions!

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 box of pasta
  • Vinegar
  • Ziplock bags
  • Parchment paper
  • Bin or aluminum tray

Instructions:

  1. Separate the pasta evenly into 6 different ziplock bags.
  2. Add ½–1 tablespoon of vinegar to each bag, along with a few drops of food coloring (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple).
  3. Seal the bags and shake until the pasta is fully coated in the vinegar and dye mixture.
  4. Spread the pasta out evenly on parchment paper, making sure pieces aren’t overlapping so they dry properly.
  5. Let the pasta dry completely for a few hours or overnight.
  6. Once dry, place the pasta into a bin or aluminum tray (you can organize by color if you’d like).

Let the kids have fun exploring! Try adding spoons, measuring cups, and small containers to encourage scooping, pouring, and imaginative play.
