WOW. What a day! The 5th Annual Charlotte Joy Touch-A-Truck Festival was everything you could hope for and more. The sun was shining, the weather was perfect, and there was something exciting to see around every corner. But what made this event so special went far beyond the incredible activities. It was the meaning behind it all.
As soon as we walked through the gates, volunteers were handing out yellow flags to plant in honor of children who are currently fighting pediatric cancer or who have sadly lost their battles. I had the opportunity to plant one alongside my two-year-old daughter, and that moment really hit home. It was a powerful reminder of the families behind this cause and the unimaginable challenges they face. The Ashley Lauren Foundation works to support families navigating pediatric cancer and being there made it that much more meaningful to see how many people came together to help make a difference.
Of course, there was no shortage of fun for the little ones! From vendors handing out construction hats and stickers to petting zoos, tractor rides, and exciting attractions, the festival truly had something for everyone. Kids could explore massive trucks, ambulances, grocery trucks, and even a helicopter! There was a pink excavator, Lightning McQueen and Mater, the Batmobile, and even a walking dinosaur. Add in bubble magic, rides, food vendors, and plenty of space to explore, and you can imagine why kids were having the time of their lives.
My daughter had an absolute blast, and so did we! The event was thoughtfully set up, with a great balance of open space and shaded areas, making it easy for families to spend the day enjoying everything without feeling overwhelmed.
And perhaps one of the most incredible parts? So much of this event was made possible by volunteers and the generosity of the community. Seeing so many people give their time and energy to support such an important cause was a beautiful reminder of just how strong our community can be when it comes together.
We feel so lucky to have been part of such a special day. Charlotte Joy Touch-A-Truck is more than a fun family outing. It’s a reminder of what really matters, the families who need support, and the difference we can make when we show up for one another.
If you missed it this year, this is absolutely an event to keep on your radar for next year!
